TEMPORARY SAFETY INSPECTION COVERS™
(Toby Bungs)

SHIMPAC® TEMPORARY SAFETY INSPECTION COVERS sometimes referred to as SHIMPAC® “Toby Bungs” (a Scottish colloquial description for these temporary covers) are designed to replace broken covers until they can be properly repaired.

When a surface box lid breaks, fails or is stolen the exposed area becomes a hazard, leaving local authorities, utility companies and housing developers liable to compensation claims if personal injury and/or avoidable damage to property occurs as a result.  A “Toby Bung” eliminates the hazard by covering the void until a permanent repair can be planned and completed.

“Toby Bungs” are suitable for most small pavement ironworks and have been have been certified and approved for use by major water and utilities companies, local authorities, highway operators and port authorities for water, telecommunications, power and similar services access covers.

“Toby Bungs” come in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit a variety of ironwork and surface boxes. These products offer high lateral strength, compression and sheer resistance and meet all relevant international material and quality standards.

There are also larger sizes of SHIMPAC® TEMPORARY SAFETY INSPECTION COVERS as temporary coverings for chambers during roadworks, to protect them from detritus entering chambers, gullies and pipes before final surrounding surface materials are laid.
